Skin Care Routine: 2018

Right now, I’ve been into fresh dewy skin and just a natural complexion. My skin is looking better than ever and I swear by these five products. I myself have extremely dry skin where it results in dry patches and such, but these products are amazing and I recommend them for every skin type.

Purity Facial Cleanser (Ulta $24.00) – This cleanser is amazing. I use this at night when I take off my makeup and it removes everything. I use it with my cleansing brush and it works amazing. It feels very refreshing and it is also gentle on the skin. I switch between this one and Cetaphil and I love them both.

Thayers Witch Hazel Toner (Target $10.39) – So I started using toner maybe a month ago and I have definitely seen a difference. My skin tone is more even and overall less red. I have not been getting as many breakouts as before. I use this after my face wash and the toner just takes off the excess dirt and oil and it has made a huge difference. I like this one in particular since it is alcohol free it’s less drying.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost (Target $16.19) – When I went to the dermatologist a while back, he gave me a whole box of samples of this product and I am in love. Its a gel so it feels cooling and a little bit thicker on the skin. I can definitely feel it sink in to my skin and it feels super hydrating. I recommend this product for dry skin because I firmly believe this is what makes my skin look fresh and dewy.

Fix + (MAC $26.00) – After putting on moisturizer, I’ve gotten into a habit of constantly spraying this on my face. I use it anytime my skin feels a little dry and it helps without being extremely heavy on the skin. I also use this when I have on makeup and it just makes everything dewy and natural. I recommend this for anyone and any skin type.

Review: The Dew Puff

I received this product about two weeks ago and I thought today would be a good day to write my review. So these sponges are meant to replace a washcloth when taking off your makeup. There are three different kinds: the Original meant for all skin types, the Asian Clay which is meant for dry and aging skin, lastly there is the bamboo charcoal one for blemish prone skin. I will admit that I have yet to use the bamboo charcoal one because my skin is so dry I’m afraid of what the charcoal would do to me. I’m going to ask one of my friends to test it out for me so stay posted as it will be uploaded within a week to this post.

I’m going to start with a bit of background information. The company sent me a brochure and a letter explaining and providing a bit more information about the Dew Puff. So this product retails for about eight dollars which honestly isn’t that much. The brochure claims that it keeps you naturally hydrated because of the pH balance, that there’s no preservatives, 100% natural Kojak fiber, and you can use this product alone or with the cleanser. I personally use this with the cleanser because I find it leaves my skin even more hydrating cleaner than what it could be a alone. For cleanser you can use whatever type you had one hand I think anytime will work. I use the Cetaphill cleanser because it’s just personally one of my favorites.

Above, you can see the size difference from completely dry to completely soaked. The one on the left is what it looks like completely dried down. The one is the middle is what it looks like 12 hours after you’ve used it. The one on the right is what it looks like right after you run it under water.

Original- So the original sponge was very soft and very similar to the Asian clay one that is meant for dry skin. I think that’s the safest one to buy if you’re unsure just because it works on all skin types. After using it, your face will look and feel clean as well as soft.

Asian Clay- This sponge is my favorite out of the two I have tried because after I use it my skin feels like I just put moisturizer on. Something about the Asian play just re-hydrates your skin and leaves feeling super soft. If you have really dry skin I really recommend the sponge because unlike a brush, this is not to get your skin it’s very soft and it glides on top of your skin and removes all your make up and leaves your skin feeling new.

Bamboo Charcoal- So I had one of my friends try this out for about a month now and she loves it. She uses it with a moisturizing cleanser so it isn’t super dry. She can see a difference in her skin and how it isn’t as oily and her face looks even and smooth. She really loves the Dew Puff and recommends it.

My final thoughts on this product is that it’s a real winner in it will work for everyone. You can go generic and get the Original for appear clean or you can get the sponge that is not for your skin type and either one will work beautifully. I think for Christmas and this would be a great gift as a stocking stuffer or for just in general. I really recommend spending the eight dollars and buying the sponge. You can sanitize it by soaking it and putting it in the microwave for a minute and it can last up to three months.

If you have tried the Dew Puff before, comment down below your thoughts on it or helpful tips on how to use it.

Dry skin…

This blog is all about the girls and guys out there who need a little help with their dry skin.  As for me, my skin is super dry.  It peels, flakes, cracks, and is super sensitive to almost everything.  Especially now with it being winter and the air being super dry, my skin is suffering immensely.  After having my skin being in this state for a couple of months, I now have learned how to manage it and fix it over time.

First, the basics.  Of course, you all know to wash your face every morning and night.  I use the Cetaphil cleanser because it is made especially for sensitive skin.  It moisturizes the skin with out leaving it oily, it doesn’t burn when you apply it, and overall I highly recommend it.  How I use mine is I apply the product to a dry face while heating up warm water.  When I have rubbed in the cleanser, I take my Dual Action Cleansing Brush, turn it on and put water on it.  I use the brush to further more rub the product in my face and get all of the dead skin off of my face.  After that, I mix the Cetaphil moisturizer and the Josie Maran Argan Oil and apply it all over my face.  I then take the Mary Kay extra emollient night cream and apply it to my super dry areas like my forehead, eyes, and lips.

Now of course you have also heard drinking lots of water can help your skin stay super hydrated.  I am currently in biology right now, so the science part is that your cells are mostly made up of water, so if they do not get enough, they shrivel up and die.  That process is one of the ways dry skin is formed.  So I highly recommend drinking plenty of water.

Here’s a quick tip.  If you want to get rid of the stubborn dry flakes on your skin, take a little bit of oil (it could be olive oil if you wanted) and just rub it on your dry patch.  It will slowly ball up on your face and your skin will smooth and soft as ever.  After you do that I recommend washing your face and moisturizing.

I hope this tips and tricks have helped you manage your skin through the dry seasons of the years.  If you have any more tips comment below and if you have any questions, feel free to email me at (:                XOXO kt💮
